I was born in Greencastle, Indiana in 1964 and grew up in Lancaster, Ohio, graduating from Lancaster High School in 1982. I attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, graduating in 1986 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Graphic Design and minors in drawing and Art History. While at Ohio University I was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and was the Fraternity Educator during my senior year.
My wife of 32 years, Denise Pasek, grew up in Richfield and graduated from Revere in 1983. We met at Ohio University and after she graduated in 1987, we lived in Columbus, Ohio. I accepted a transfer from my employer in 1989 so we could move to Northeast Ohio and we bought a home in Medina. While we lived in Medina, we spent a great deal of time in Richfield and eventually bought her childhood home when her father moved to Florida in 2006. We consider ourselves lucky to be able to live in Richfield and enjoy everything the Village has to offer.
I am employed at GBS Corporation as the Quality Control Manager for the PrinTech division, which encompasses two facilities: in Stow and Malvern Ohio. This position allows me to use my 32 years of experience in the printing industry to meet the needs of our global customer network. I have previous experience as the manager of as many as 31 employees in several large printing companies in Northeastern Ohio.
I have been involved in several civic organizations and have taken on leadership roles within those organizations. I am a current member of the Bath & Richfield Kiwanis Club and am a past member of the Brecksville Kiwanis Club, where I was the club advisor for the BBHHS Key Club. In high school, I was involved with Key Club and was the President during my senior year. I was an Alumni Advisor to the John Carrol University chapter of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity during their colonization and after they were chartered.
When I ran for office 2 years ago, I made a commitment to give back my Council salary to organizations and charities that could benefit from that money more than I could. Since my appointment in January 2020, I have done that by giving both my salary and my time to benefit others.
I volunteered to paint the doors on the Lodge at Richfield Heritage Preserve, and donated the paint and materials, along with approximately 40 hours of time. I donated the five new exterior lights, as well as the lights on either side of the fireplace inside.
I’ve made donations to national, regional and local charities including American Cancer Society, Crohn’s Colitis Foundation, Leukemia and Lymphoma Foundation, Humane Society of Summit County and Fostering Independence. Each of these charitable organizations has a connection to my and my wife’s life, and I’m glad to be able to support their missions.
My wife and I are sponsor and steward for Richfield Adopt A Spot, we have the south side of Fellowship Hall, facing Grant Street and the future site of Richfield Brewing.
I’ve volunteered to help the Recreation Department with both the 2020 COVID friendly versions of Trick or Treat and the Easter Egg Hunt by hiding eggs in the yards Richfield Residents.
I am also a member of the Bath-Richfield Kiwanis Club.
